Email from Drakelist Blocked

In certain instances, subscribers to the drakelist mailing list do not receive their mail. One common reason is that they, or their ISPs make use of black lists to filter out SPAM. Many black lists are either well-maintained or offer someone labeled as a source of SPAM to have their address removed from the database.

There is one black list, however, that is NOT reasonable, hides behind aliases, and makes a practice of intimidating folks into doing business "their way".

Below is the text of email sent to subscribers of the drakelist who can no longer receive mail due to SPEWS.

Removal from Drakelist

Sorry, I've had to remove your address from the Drakelist.

The reason I've done it is that either you or your ISP has subscribed to one of the draconian blacklists. These lists label certain IPs as spammers with little or no proof, and engage in gangsterish-like tactics.

If you want "their" version of why I am blacklisted, visit http://spews.org/html/S1757.html

You'll see that while my IP addresses, 138.121.18.101 through 138.121.18.105 are in the listed block, the complaint is against the business that provides me with service and their provider.

The organization, SPEWS, makes a regular practice of blacklisting EVERYONE in a block of 255 addresses if ONE of the addresses is thought to be involved with spam.

SPEWS refuses to listen to me when I request that the listing of my IP address be removed, they simply explain their draconian measures and suggest that I move my server.

SPEWS hides behind behind aliases, domain registrations in obscure places, and engages in intimidation of ISPs.

As list members, it hasn't cost you to be a member of the list, but as a provider I have lost customers, income and reputation because of the false accusations by SPEWS.

If you have added my IP to a deny list, please remove it. If your ISP has done so, and you want to receive mail from the Drakelist, please ask your ISP to remove the block.

Note: Unlike SPEWS, I am NOT asking you to participate in an economic boycott of your provider. Unlike SPEWS, I can be reached at an email address that is NOT a shield. Unlike SPEWS, if you have a reason to find information about me and my businesses, you may do so via public sources of information.

73,
Thom
